Ethics and disclosures

Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement (based on Elsevier recommendations and COPE's Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors) 

Asia Science Progress is committed to ensuring ethics in the publication and the quality of articles. We follow the Code of Conduct as defined by the Committee of Publication Ethics (COPE). These ethics include the editors’ following rules on relations with readers, authors, and reviewers, as well as procedures for handling complaints.

Ownership and Management

Asia Science Progress is owned by Asian Science Publishing Company, Thailand and the journal receives financial support from the company.

Asian Science Publishing company ensures that the journal operates independently, adheres to ethical guidelines, and remains committed to fostering the advancement and dissemination of knowledge in the Asian region, with the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and quality in scholarly publishing.

The management of Asia Science Progress is carried out by a dedicated editorial team, including the Editor-in-Chief, Section Editors, Associate editors, and a Managing Editor, who work closely with the Editorial Board to oversee the peer-review process, manuscript selection, and the overall publication workflow.

 

Peer-review process

All of Asia Science Progress content is subjected to single-blind peer review. Peer review is defined as obtaining advice on individual manuscripts from at least two external expert reviewers in the relevant field (see Peer Review Process section for more details).

Judgments of handling editors will be objective.

Asia Science Progress requires all editorial team members, including the Editor-in-Chief, Section Editors, Associate Editors, and external reviewers, to disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could influence their decision-making or compromise the journal's integrity. Conflicts of interest will be managed transparently, and appropriate actions will be taken to ensure unbiased and fair evaluation of submitted manuscripts. 

Reviewers should point out relevant published work which is not yet cited.

Reviewed articles should be treated confidentially.

Publication malpractice statement

By submitting their work to the Section Editors, the authors acknowledge and agree to adhere to the principles outlined in this malpractice statement, ensuring the integrity, credibility, and ethical standards of the research published in the journal.

Publishers and editors take reasonable steps to identify and prevent the publication of papers where research misconduct has occurred.

Asia Science Progress does not tolerate the fabrication or falsification of data, results, or any other kind of misconduct.

If Section Editors, editors are made aware of any allegation of research misconduct, the journal shall take actions ranging from a warning to the rejection of submissions, withdrawal of published articles, or other appropriate measures deemed necessary by the journal.

If errors or inaccuracies are identified in published articles, the section editor(s) will promptly issue corrections or retractions as necessary. Corrections will be published to rectify minor errors, while retractions will be issued in cases of significant misconduct or ethical violations.

In the case of any dispute concerning the manuscript, the Editor-in-Chief, along with two senior editorial board members, shall assess the situation and make a recommendation following COPE guidelines.

 

Plagiarism

Plagiarism, in any form, is defined as the unacknowledged use of another person’s ideas, words, intellectual property, or one’s own work or submitting work published before (in part or whole) without proper disclosure. The journal accepts the similarity percentage less than or equal to 20%. If the percentage of similarity is higher than 20%, the editorial team will immediately notify the corresponding author, and the author will be given an opportunity to respond and provide any necessary justifications or revisions regarding the content in question. The editor-in-chief will examine the revised manuscript and consider the factors, including the proportion of plagiarized content, the significance of the plagiarized portions, and the overall impact on the originality and validity of the research, before reaching a decision. The decision of the editor-in-chief will be informed to the senior associate editors, and the journal's editorial team will make a final decision regarding the manuscript.

If the plagiarism is deemed significant or pervasive, the manuscript will be rejected outright, and the authors will be informed.

In cases where the plagiarism is deemed minor or unintentional, the authors may be given an opportunity to revise their work and address the plagiarism issues. They will be required to provide proper attribution, rephrase the content, or remove the plagiarized sections entirely.

 

Copyright and Licensing

Asian Science Publishing company retain the copyright to their articles published in the Asia Science Progress. By submitting their manuscript to Asia Science Progress, authors grant the journal a non-exclusive license to publish their work, enabling the journal to distribute, reproduce, publicly display, and communicate the article in electronic formats and ensuring its availability to a wide audience.

Asia Science Progress offers different open-access options to authors. This includes publishing articles under a Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY), which allows unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction of the work, provided appropriate credit is given to the original authors and source of publication.

Authors are free to reuse and republish their own work, subject to any necessary permissions or legal requirements, and may also share their published articles on personal websites, institutional repositories, or other non-commercial platforms, with appropriate attribution to the Asia Science Progress.

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to include any copyrighted material, such as images, tables, figures, or lengthy quotations, in their articles. Proper acknowledgements and attributions must be provided for any third-party content used in accordance with relevant copyright laws and guidelines.

Requests for permission to reproduce or reuse articles published in Asia Science Progress should be directed to the journal's editorial office. Reprint requests for commercial purposes may also be accommodated, subject to appropriate permissions and licensing arrangements.

 

Archiving

Asia Science Progress recognizes the importance of long-term access to scholarly research. Asia Science Progress is a member of CrossRef, and thus all of its manuscripts are backed up as Doi in the CrossRef system.

 

Website

Our journal website, including the text that it contains, demonstrates that care has been taken to ensure high ethical and professional standards.

 

Publishing schedule

Issue of Asia Science Progress will be published in two issues per volume yearly.

 

Name of journal

Asia Science Progress or ASP is a unique name and cannot easily be confused with another journal.

 

Responsibilities of the authors

  • All authors should have significantly contributed to the research.
  • To gather and interpret data in an honest way, not breach any copyright and seek appropriate permission from the relevant publishers to publish previously published data.
  • To present a concise and accurate report of their research and an objective discussion.
  • To give due recognition to published work relating to their submitted manuscript by way of correct reference and citation.
  • To give due acknowledgement to all workers contributing to the work.
  • To declare all sources of funding for the work.
  • To ensure that a manuscript is submitted for publication in only one journal at a time.
  • During the submission process, authors must declare no conflict of interest.
  • To avoid undue fragmentation of their work into multiple manuscripts.
  • Consider publishing related manuscripts in the same journal or a small group of journals, as this can be of benefit to readers.
  • To ensure their submitted articles contain no personal criticism of other scientists.
  • All authors are obliged to provide retractions or corrections of mistakes.

 

Responsibilities of the editors

  • To acknowledge receipt of manuscripts in a timely manner, arrange fair and timely reviews, handle manuscripts confidentially and make the final decision concerning acceptance or rejection.
  • To accept or reject a manuscript for publication concerning only the manuscript's importance, originality and relevance.
  • To respect the intellectual independence of authors.
  • To make known any conflicts of interest that might arise. Where an editor is an author of a manuscript, it should be passed to another editor for independent peer review. 
  • To avoid the use of work reported in unpublished or submitted articles for their own research.
  • Avoid the use of reviewers whom an author has requested not to be consulted.
  • To ensure the confidentiality of reviewers, adjudication and appeal reviewers.
  • To deal fairly with appeals against rejection of a manuscript.
  • To comply with data protection regulations, as appropriate.

 

Responsibilities of the reviewers

  • To treat the manuscripts confidential.
  • To destroy/erase the manuscript and to inform the editor should they be unqualified to review the manuscript.
  • To judge the manuscript objectively and in a timely fashion.
  • To inform the editor if there is a conflict of interest.
  • To explain and support their decisions so that editors and authors can understand the basis of their comments and provide reference to published work, where appropriate.
  • To inform the editor of any similarity between the submitted manuscript and another published one.
  • To ensure that all unpublished data, information, interpretation and discussion remain confidential and not to use reported work in unpublished, submitted articles for their own research.
  • To alert the editor if a manuscript contains plagiarized material.
  • Not to retain the submitted manuscript in any form; to comply with data protection regulations.
  • To make known any conflicts of interest that might arise.
